Let's start out with probably the most popular St. George area outdoor activity, hiking. Hiking is a sport that just about anyone can enjoy and the St. George area offers hikes for not only the beginner, young and old but also the most avid of hikers. Within a few minutes of our homes you can enjoy hikes like, Paradise Rim TrailChuckwalla Trail and the Santa Clara River Trail Reserve where you can view ancient Anasazi petroglyphsSnow Canyon State Park, only a 5 minute drive, has some excellent beginner hikes as well as some for the more adventurous. One of our favorite and easier hikes in Snow Canyon, is Hidden Pinion Trail. Be sure to keep a close eye out for the hidden pinion pine tree for which the trail is named. Other beautiful Snow Canyon hikes are Three PondsButterfly TrailWest Canyon and the the elevation climbing, Padre Canyon Trail. Once to the top, you can view the city of St. George in one direction and Snow Canyon in the other.

A stay at Lava Falls At Entrada Vacation Rentals that includes hiking definitely warrants a visit to Zion National Park. From breathtaking, heart thumping climbs like Angel's Landing and Observation Point, to a leisurely hike to Weeping Rock, you will find a hike to suit everyone's ability in your group. In the summertime, bring your quick drying shorts and hike the paved Riverside Trail up and into the Virgin River toward the famous slot canyon called, The Narrows. The cool mountain water flowing through the river along side the steep canyon walls guarantee a cool and beautiful hike even in the heat of summer. The scenery of Bryce Canyon, about a 2 1/2 hours day trip away, boasts coral hoodoos amongst green ponderosa pine trees. Hike down into the stunningly beautiful canyon on hikes such as Navajo Loop Trail. Bring your camera with you EVERYWHERE because you ARE going to need it! When asked the differences between Zion and Bryce Canyon parks, I respond with it's difficult to compare the two as they are equally beautiful but in Zion you are looking up from the canyon floor and at Bryce, you look down into the canyon from the top.

St. George has an array of trails for both the mountain and road biker. Mountain bikers can enjoy trails like Turtle WallParadise RimSanta Clara River Reserve and West Rim all within riding distance from Lava Falls At Entrada Vacation Rentals. Less than 30 minutes away, enjoy the world class trails of Gooseberry Mesa, the JEM trail and Little Creek. The Gooseberry Mesa area is also home to the Red Bull Rampage held every October. For the more competitive, there is the True Grit Mountain Bike RaceFrog Hollow Mountain Bike Race and the Hurricane (if you want people to think you're a local it's, "Herkin") and the Mountain Bike Festival. Our road biking friends can access the 70 plus mile city system within 100 yards of their front door. And not too far away is the 18 mile Snow Canyon State Park loop.

St. George is considered a golfing mecca! With our breathtaking scenery, moderate temperatures and affordable prices, people come from all over the country to golf here. Courses just minutes from Lava Falls include SunbrookDixie Red Hills and Southgate. Within a 30 minute drive, awaits Green SpringsSun RiverSky Mountain and the St. George City Course. Here at Lava Falls, we host many large golfing groups. The 3 most popular courses in order are Sand Hollow, Coral Canyon and the Ledges. The first 9 of the Ledges are nothing to write home about but the back 9 make it all worthwhile!

St George has a very active arts community. Kayenta Art Village is just a few minutes up the road and they have just completed their new performing arts center. Xetava Gardens Cafe is an excellent restaraunt located within the Kayenta Art Village. For a healthy meal and delicious beverages stop by and enjoy a day perusing the art and handicrafts. Only 5 minutes away is the one of a kind, incredibly beautiful, Tuacahn Ampitheater. Their Broadway in the Desert Series' performs world class off Broadway caliber shows. A few years ago they performed Les Miserables and we have friends that saw the play in London and Paris and said this was their favorite performance of the three. St. George also has many galleries and playhouses. Springdale at the entrance to Zion has many art galleries with local work as well as other areas of the Southwest.

For the sightseer we always recommend a drive up the scenic byway, Kolob Terrace Road in Virgin located on the way to Zion. You'll climb up to 9,000 feet above sea level on a curvy road through ponderosa pines, aspen forests and fields of tall golden grass. Along the way will be breathtaking views of Zion from above. There aren't any park fees when traveling up this road.
